Post Character Creation (Goblin Campaign) Reply with quote
Basics

- We will start at level 2.
- Max HP for the first three levels
- 28-point buy
- We will be using action points.

Classes

Among the goblins of Demdamun...

- The Paladin class is unheard of. Clerics, Monks and Wizards are rare. Barbarians are uncommon among goblins and hobgoblins but not among bugbears.
- Complete Warrior's Hexblade and Swashbuckler, Complete Arcane's Warlock and Warmage, Complete Divine's Spirit Shaman, Complete Adventurer's Scout and Miniature's Handbook's Marshall are all found among goblins.
- Magic of Incarnum's Incarnate (usually lawful neutral) and especially Totemist can be found among the goblins, and Incarnum feats are not rare as well. The soulborn class, however, is usually not seen.
- Complete Mage and PHBII alternate class features are pre-approved.
- Psionics will generally not be appropriate for the campaign.
- Anything else, ask.

Alignment

- Both goblins and hobgoblins will tend toward lawful but not necessarily toward either good or evil; bugbears have no alignment tendencies.

Races

- You will be playing a goblin race: either a goblin (with two class levels), a hobgoblin (with one) or a bugbear (with less Hit Dice and starting with no class levels).

Prestige Classes

- If you want a prestige class, talk to me about it as soon as possible.

Feats, Skills, Spells, etc.

- Everything in the PHB, the Leadership feat and everything in Complete Warrior, Complete Arcane, Complete Divine, Complete Adventurer, the Spell Compendium and Magic of Incarnum are pre-approved.
- Anything else, ask.

Deities

- The core D&D deities are present, as presented in Complete Divineand in supplements (e.g., Libris Mortis).
- There is also the Church of Maetheritus, the official religion of the Godstate of Ormu.
- I will come up with deities specific to the goblin tribes soon.
- Avoid Forgotten Realms, Eberron and extra-core Greyhawk deities.

Equipment

- You will begin with 1,200gp to buy equipment with.
- PHB items, DMG magic items and equipment from Complete Warrior, Complete Arcane, Complete Adventurer and Magic of Incarnum pre-approved
- Anything else, ask.

I don't intend to require a backstory; but if you want to go ahead and write one, it should at least include:

- Where your character is from
- How your character came into his/her class, has the skills he/she does, etc.
- The kinds of things you see your character doing

Anything that at least accomplishes this will be rewarded with a bonus action point, which raises your maximum.

You can expand upon this in any way you'd like. I won't be rewarding you any more mechanically, but a detailed backstory will certainly yield in-game benefits.

(You don't necessarily have to do this before the first session to get the AP reward.)

Region of Origin

Select a region of origin from the following list (note - your goblin characters will generally be from the Deltenah (Red Moon) or The East regions). Consult Essential Linguistics by Region in the Setting Info thread to see associated languages.

- Mochslaz Proper (Ormu)
- Deltenah (Khalleta)
- Deltenah (Red Moon)
- Nejaladh (Tarrok Mountains)
- Nejaladh (Astunak)
- Ruttora
- Lhamen (North)
- The East
- GodŠ
- Yfeinoth
- Vaelg'un

Non-humans from regions outside of their racial homelands also gain their race as an independent region (e.g., an elf from the Kingdom of Astunak would have both Nejaladh (Astunak) and Elf as regions of origin).
