I really want to run something in the Legacy era for a number of reasons.

1. The era in general is fairly wide-open. Barring huge, galaxy-shaking events, we could really get away with a lot without stepping on the toes of canon. This isn't to say that canon is holy (and after all it is just an RPG), but it does improve believability and immersion.

2. The Legacy era is receiving a lot of creative attention at the time (such as in the form of the Legacy of the Force novels and the Star Wars: Legacy comic), so it has a particular feeling of novelty. (Of course, this can also be a problem since many details of the era have not yet been set, but I think this is manageable.)

3. The events taking place during the Legacy era, while they are similar to and carry many of the same themes as much of the Star Wars movies and EU, are nevertheless intriguing.

My interest lies primarily with the latter part of the era, the time frame covered in the comics as opposed to the novels. The game itself will begin in 130 ABY, a short time after the Attack on Emperor Fel*, which gives us seven years of practically free, open space.

*I will do short flashback sequences for characters that were involved in prior important events (such as the Massacre at Ossus).

Resources
You should familiarize yourself with a lot of what's happened since the end of Return of the Jedi. Here are some links to articles on Wookieepedia that should cover most of what's important. Each entry's importance will be ranked from one to three asterisks (*). Entries additionally marked with a tilde (~) will be of more importance to Jedi and other Force-sensitive characters. Consider anything with at least a ** rating (or *~ for Force-sensitives) required reading.

Here is list of links to books, comics, etc. if you would like a more detailed look at this information or an idea of the Legacy era's tone. None of it will be necessary; the Dark Nest novels will likely be totally irrelevant. (Note: I personally will have read the Legacy comic up to issue 12 by the first session and none of the novels.)

Not at all for my purposes. You should have a pretty good idea of your character's general knowledge, whereas I'll have to find some way to trick Pudge into reading anything at all.

If you're really interested in playing, I could try to run the game weekly or semiweekly in a Yahoo! conference or something. I have a feeling you'd be my biggest ally in keeping the other players pumped up.

How do you resent that? Chris is the Star Wars supernerd around these parts. I'm sure if one of us (lost his whole fuckin' mind and) wanted to run the WoW RPG, Pudge would be the go-to guy for pumped-up-ness.
